This blog site is an E-casebook for Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things for Nancy Wilson's class, HON 3395Q: South Asian Literature in Spring 2011 semester at Texas State University.
While you are welcome to use this information to enhance your understanding of the novel and it's themes, terms, and context, you may not republish (whole or in-part) any content on this site without express written permission of the author, Shaun Ford.
Shaun Bryan Ford is an Applied Sociology senior at Texas State University-San Marcos, minoring in English and Honors Studies. He has been on the Dean's List every semester since his return to college, has  won an Excellence in Writing Award in 2010 from San Antonio College, and he has been awarded as an Outstanding Liberal Arts Student in 2011. He is a freelance writer, as well as a student, and his work can be seen on  many popular college-themed blogs, including: myUsearch.com, iGrad.com, and CollegeThrive.com.
He will be beginning a study of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth literature over the summer of  2011 and continuing in fall of 2011. The culmination of this work, he hopes will be to publish a paper on GLBT identity formation and youth  literature, and will use this research to inform his own project of writing a GLBT-themed young-adult novel.
He is also an accomplished speaker, having presented at national conferences on gender and sexuality. His interest in the area of gender and sexuality converges with a advocacy for social justice which has led him to organize Texas State's first candlelight vigil for the victims of homophobia in October 2010. He hopes to bring a permanent suicide-prevention resource to Texas State before he graduates in May of  2012.
After graduation, Ford intends to attend graduate school  to continue his study of GLBT issues and sociology. He is considering obtaining a masters degree in GLBT studies, as well as a PhD in sociology.
